A little late, but... Why I chose the Psychoanalytical lens.

For my blogging experience, I have decided to select the Psychoanalytic lens. Out of them all, it seemed to be the most interesting lens, so I’m excited to be reading the book with this point of view. I was most intrigued by this lens because it allows one to dive deeper into the choices of both the author and the characters, and to learn about their inner motivations. As far as previous experience, I can’t say I've ever read a text specifically through a psychoanalytic lens, but I've definitely noticed and thought about how an author’s inner beliefs could affect a text, and it makes the reading much more interactive. I also considered using the Feminist lens for this project. I was told that both lenses would be good fits for the book, with plenty to write about, but in the end I decided to go for Psychoanalytic because of my (limited) prior experiences with this type of thinking.

  1. I like how you are interested on the choices the character and as well as the author make throughout the book. I find that it is very important to see the choices they make throughout the book.

  2. I like how you chose the psychoanalytical lens because you wanted to be able to analyze the characters actions. I think that character actions and motives are a big part of this book and so I think this lens will be very helpful in understanding the text. I chose this lens as my second choice and the feminist lens as my first choice, basically the opposite of what you did.
